Zetta M. McCollim Korber Lynn, 87, of Freeport and formerly New Kensington, died Sunday, December 7, 2014, at Bayberry Place, Lower Burrell. She was born April 6, 1927, in New Kensington, daughter of the late John Jackson McCollim, Sr. and Lucy Hodgson McCollim.
A 1946 graduate of New Kensington High School, she worked as a crossing guard for the City of New Kensington for many years and also worked as a cashier for Acme Market in Tarentum and Lower Burrell, retiring in 1979 after thirteen years. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church where at one time she was very active including serving on church council. She enjoyed collecting and re-finishing antique furniture. Zetta was a spunky, fun-loving lady who had a passion for making people laugh. She enjoyed playing cards and games and loved going on her annual all girls trip to South Bethany Beach, Delaware, which she did with eight to nine family members every September for the last thirteen years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David A. Lynn in 1999; three brothers, Frederick, Wesley and Larry McCollim; three sisters, Betty Harris, Catherine Berlinski and Patricia Milisits; and a stepson, David Lynn.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Korber and wife Rosalie of New Kensington and Dennis Korber and wife Nancy of Gibsonia, PA; daughter, Denise Korber Scott and husband W. James, of Erie, PA; two sisters, Lydia Simmers of Beaver, PA and Blanche McNabb and husband Ronald of New Kensington; brother, John McCollim, Jr. and wife Jackie of Chesapeake, VA; five grandsons, Jonathan Korber and wife Amanda of Oswego, IL, Jared Scott of Erie, Justin Scott of Pgh., Joshua and Jayden Korber of Gibsonia; two granddaughters, Courtney Korber Whalen and husband Shawn of New Kensington and Nicole Korber of Gibsonia; two great-grandchildren, Jonathan Thomas "J.T." and Grace Korber of Oswego, IL; sister-in-law, Betty Sinclair of New Kensington; brother-in-law, George Milisits of Rochester, NY; stepdaughter, Bonnie Lynn of Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Family and friends are invited from 3-7 on Tuesday, December 9, to the CHURCHFIELD-PETERS FUNERAL HOME, 501 Fifth Avenue, New Kensington, PA 15068 (724-335-1951). A service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 10 at the Calvary Lutheran Church, 1721 Victoria Avenue, Arnold, PA 15068 with the Reverend Marsha A.
