William P. Fullerton

William P. Fullerton, 90, of Natrona Heights, passed away early Sunday morning, October 13, 2013, at the Southwestern Veterans Center, Pittsburgh, PA.  He was born on October 16, 1922, in Freeport to the late Samuel Gregg Fullerton and Helen Clowes Fullerton. He was the husband of Lois Jean Austin Fullerton for 71 years.  

Mr. Fullerton was a World War II  Veteran, having served in the U. S. Army in the Phillipines in the Battle of Corregido (1945). He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of the Natrona Heights VFW.   Following his discharge from the Army, he worked as a Freight Conductor for the Pennsylvania Railroad (which later became Penn Central, then Conrail), until his retirement. He loved golf and was a long-time member of the Brackenridge Heights Country Club. He was a member of  Armstrong Lodge #239, Freeport, PA and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.  Besides golfing, he enjoyed visits with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening and watching birds from his front porch.  

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Kathy (William) Keener, Simpsonville, SC, and Susan (John) Burger of Butler. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Sharon (Wojtek) McNeeley-Kruk, Jennifer Keener, David (Cathy) Keener, Nancy Burger, John Burger, Thomas (Leah) Burger, Gretchen (Jason) Lavery, Emily (Jonathan) Smock, and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Coffman (Willard) Fullerton. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Francis, Glenn Mervin, Leroy, Willard, and sister Ruth (Clarence) Irwin.

At Mr. Fullerton’s request, there will be no viewing.  A private service and interment will be held at Mt. Airy Cemetery at a date yet to be determined.  Robert Peters Funeral Home, Inc., in Natrona Heights will be handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 1333 Freeport Rd, Natrona Heights, PA 15065.
