I was very sorry to hear of the passing of Bill Danik. As a fellow roller rink organist, he was one of the best. He had a clean, unique style that the skaters appreciated. He was very well liked in the roller skating world. Bill was good friends with Steve and Margie Furimsky of McKeesport, fellow skaters and organ music enthusiasts. They'd often go out to eat after a Monday evening session at Donora. Bill traveled out to hear me play at my rink several times in the 1980's. I considered him a friends and wish to extend condolences to the family. Heaven has gained another great musician.

I never actually got to meet Bill but I came to love him anyways.  My husband, Michael, met him while serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Michael looked up to and loved Bill very much.  He tells me stories of going to Bill's house just to visit and of how kind and caring Bill was.  Through a few short years and through my husbands eyes I came to know of Bill's generosity and genuine kindness.  I'm very saddened by the thought of never getting to meet Bill and continue our friendship in this life. However, I know there is life after this and I am so grateful for the opportunity to one day meet and thank him for all he has done for me and my husband.

I am heartbroken about the news of Bill's passing. A man that taught me how to be successful in the world and in life.  Bill & I were very close through my teenage years and throughout my 20's.  The world is a much lesser place without Bill.  May he rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of Bills passing. What a great friend and personality. Thinking of all those days at the Ches-A-Rena and road trips. The world will be a little less fun without Bill.

I am deeply saddened by Bill's death. As fellow music teachers, we shared an office where he never failed to cheer me on at break-time. Bill was a fine pianist, and a dedicated teacher who poured his heart into writing, directing, and staging elaborate reviews. His generosity extended beyond school walls: As a devoted son, he built a handicap-accessible home for his mom.  He delighted in creating and serving gourmet meals. And he loved to treat his friends at the best restaurants. It was a privilege to know Bill. His loss is felt by many.  I join them in sending heartfelt sympathy to Carol, other family members and close friends who will surely miss him.

So sorry to hear of Bill's passing.  Our friendship goes back many many years ago when he was like a part of the Andrews family.  He was very close to my brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jean and John Andrews.  We became friends because of their friendship.  He was part of many of our celebrations when we were younger.  He was a fantastic cook and a very very funny guy who was well liked by all.  The world will be a much sadder place without him.  Your family has my deepest sympathy.

So very sorry to hear of Bill's passing.  Bill was a dear friend.  I was his principal at Highlands Middle School from 1989 - 1995 when I went back to the classroom.  Bill & I used to sit and talk often.  He would invite me & others to his home for lunch on in-service days.  He had such a talent for cooking.  Bill and I met twice this year for lunch. Once in June and once in August (I believe).  I never knew he was sick!  He looked so well and had lost some weight.  I remarked how good he looked.  He was supposed to give me a call for our next lunch date.  Now I know why he didn't.  Bill was an outstanding teacher, friend, and I'm sure brother to you!
May God Bless Bill & his family.
                                                              Sincerely, Al & Karen Reyer

So sad to see this. Bill and I were close friends. I spoke to him at the end of summer. He was having severe back issues, and driving was next to impossible. He had other compounding health issues as well. A TRULY funny and generous guy. A legend in the now defunct world of skating rink organists. He knew a MILLION tunes. This is a time when you feel good that you never had a cross word with someone through a 50 year relationship. I got Bill his first teaching job. I was hired for a general music position,  then suddenly the band guy left!! Principal, " You can have the band job if you find someone to take the GM job." It was LATE July. I called Bill. Hired immediately. Many great meals and laughs at both of our houses. Loved him like a brother.

I was so sorry to read about Bills passing.
It has to be more than 40 years since I've seen Billy.  He was my neighbor growing up, my babysitter, and also my piano teacher-that is until he told my mom I was hopeless.  He was a lot of fun, making cookies with my sisters and myself, showing us how to make wonderful food.  Those days were special.  God bless you Bill.
