Virginia Cavittof Tarentum, PAVirginia Cavitt, 97, of Tarentum, PA, died on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at home.Virginia was born on April 2, 1915 in Brackenridge, PA to the late Uhl Dornan and Mary Emma Thieker Swaney. She worked at Gulf Research. She was a member of the Bridgepoint Church formerly known as the First Christian Church of Tarentum where she was at one time a deaconess and a Sunday school teacher. She was a past president of both the Community Service Club and the Senior Women's Club, she also volunteered at Meals on Wheels. She was a sports fan, she enjoyed knitting, playing bridge, reading, traveling, the beach, and especially being around her family.She is survived by her children: Kay Staley of Glendora, CA and Virginia (Charles) Mortimer of Tarentum, PA; her daughter in law: Gretchen Cavitt and her 8 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Earl S. Cavitt (April 13, 1989); her son: Kirk E. Cavitt and her brother: Raymond Swaney.Family and friends are invited from 7-9 PM on Friday to the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA (724-224-7730), where services will be at 11 AM on Saturday with the Reverend Greg Krowitz, officiating.
