Val Jean Silliman George

Val Jean George, 94, of Sarver, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot, PA.
Val Jean was born on December 27, 1919 in Tarentum, PA to the late Lawrence and Hilda Morgan Silliman. She was a member of the Natrona Heights Presbyterian Church, Natrona Heights. She was past president of the Freeport Women’s Club. She was known as the Princess of the Riverview Park Tarentum. In 1930 at the age of 10 she was given the Gold Star Medal for saving the life of an 88 year old man named Squire Bell by pulling him out of the path of a speeding car.
She is survived by her sister: Lawrea Honnef of Oxford, North Carolina; a special niece: Barbara Rote; 2 sisters in law: Ethel Silliman of Sarver, PA and Joan Silliman of Natrona Heights, PA; 3 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Harry N. George (September 11, 1992); a son: Thomas Neal George (1999); 2 sisters: Hilda Marian Silliman and Martha Jane Silliman and 3 brothers: Lawrence “Red”, Kenneth and Louis Silliman.
Family and friends are invited on Saturday, December 6 from 9:30 AM until time of service at 10:30 AM at the Natrona Heights Presbyterian Church, 1428 Broadview Blvd., Natrona Heights, PA 15065 with the Rev. R. Cameron Malcolm, IV, officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
