Shirley (Arner) Garmer, 87, of Springdale, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2024 surrounded by her family. Shirley was born on Wednesday, March 11, 1936 in Freeport, PA to the late William and Edith (Ashenbaugh) Kendall. Shirley was employed at Unifirst for a period of time as well as working at G.C. Murphy. Shirley loved the simple pleasures of life, bus tours to the casinos, bingo, crossword puzzles, spending her winters in Florida, and her favorite was spending time with her family. Shirley’s hobby was collecting bells.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 37 years: Arthur Garmer of Springdale, her daughter: Cindy (Dave) Thomas of Gilpin Township, her sons: Ronald (June) Arner of Valencia, PA, Donald (Diane) Arner of Vandergrift, PA, Randy (Lori) Arner of New Castle, OH; Stepson: Douglas (Terri) Garmer of Belton, TX and Stepdaughters: Tammy (Mike) Jones of Pierson, FL and Jennifer Garmer of Dagsboro, DE and 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, several siblings and her first husband: James Oliver Arner.
As per Shirley’s wishes there will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at the Deer Lakes Community Church of the Nazarene, 1839 Saxonburg Blvd., Tarentum, PA 15084.
