Shirley E. Binder, 88, of Upper Burrell Township, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at West Haven Nursing Home, Apollo, PA.
Shirley was born on Friday, January 9, 1931 in Ebensburg, PA to the late Jessie and Jessei Foust Repine. Shirley graduated from Arnold High School. She was a supervisor for Bell Telephone and a secretary at the United Presbyterian Church of New Kensington.
She was a faithful member of the United Presbyterian Church. She was a volunteer at both the Children’s Museum of Oakland and Penn State of New Kensington. She loved reading with a good cup of coffee, going to breakfast every Thursday with her son, reminiscing over her 13-week vacation with her husband and son traveling across the USA, and her trip to Hawaii with her son.
Shirley is survived by her son: Thomas (Michele) Binder of Upper Burrell Township and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Edward L. Binder (1976) and her sister: Jean Callendar.
Tom and Michele would like to thank the staff at West Haven for the loving care that they gave to Shirley.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 to the UNITED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 601 Fifth Avenue, New Kensington, PA 15068, with the Reverend Wendy Keys, officiating. A private burial Will be held on Tuesday at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. Arrangements are under the care of the CHURCHFIELD-PETERS FUNERAL HOME, 501 Fifth Avenue, New Kensington, PA 15068.
