Ruth M. Lloyd

Ruth M. Lloyd, 96, of Brackenridge, PA, died on Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot, PA.

Ruth was born on October 14, 1917 in New Kensington, PA to the late John and Elsie Steinmetz Lloyd.  At 4 years old she moved to Brackenridge where she attended Prospect and Fairmont Schools in Brackenridge.  She graduated with honors from Har-Brack High School in 1935.  She managed Peter Pan Cleaning Shop in West Tarentum.  She attended New Kensington Commercial School.  She worked in the payroll department of Alcoa in New Kensington and then worked in the offices of Dr. David Spahr and Dr. David Hartzell in Tarentum.  She was a lifetime member of the First Congregational Church of Tarentum till it closed, serving as secretary of the Sunday school and sanging in the choir.  She belonged to the Missionary Society of the church and served as its treasurer for many years.  She was a member of the Tarentum Community Service Club for many years and served as its recording secretary.  She is now a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Brackenridge. She belonged to the Alcoa Twenty-five year club, was an avid knitter, making beautiful sweaters for family and friends and loved to travel visiting Europe several times, Hawaii twice and taking several cruises.

She is survived by her sister: Alma Smith of Lower Burrell, PA.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
