Rosemary L. (Smith) Nealer, of Tarentum, PA, passed Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.
Rosemary was born Tuesday, April 16, 1929 in Mercer, PA to the late Carl and Evelyn (Rinamon) Smith. She graduated from Tarentum High School in 1947 and spent her time working as an x-ray technician at the Allegheny Valley Hospital (AVH), Natrona Heights, PA; Radiological Associates, Tarentum; and Colonial Clinic in Sarver, PA until her retirement in 1981. Rosemary was a member of the Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Natrona Heights, the New Kensington Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, and the AVH Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed volunteering at the AVH coffee shop, traveling, dancing, playing cards, cooking, rooting on her Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Pirates and Steelers, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, and most of all spending time with her family.
Rosemary is survived by her 5 children: Debbie Hooks of Ford City, PA; Sharon (Randy) Smith of Freeport, PA; Mark (Robin) Nealer of Pasadena, MD; David (Teresa) Nealer of Deltona, FL; and Richard (Tricia) Nealer, of New Kensington, PA; her 12 grandchildren: Carey, Michael, Gabrielle, Matthew, Amy, Zachary, Bethany, Caitlin, Makayla, Andrew, Justice, and Taylor; her 7 great-grandchildren; and her special friend: Chuck Licata.
In addition to her parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Andrew M. Nealer; her grandson: Jason Palmer; her son-in-law: Ed Hooks; and her siblings: Richard Smith and Marlene Doutt.
The family would like to thank the staff in the trauma unit at Allegheny General Hospital for their care and support.
Family and friends are invited from 1-3 and 6-8 PM on Sunday, August 2, to the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065 (724-224-7730) where a blessing service will be held on Monday, August 3 at 9:30 AM. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:00 AM in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1526 Union Avenue, Natrona Heights, PA 15065, with her pastor the Reverend James Mazurek as celebrant. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart-St. Peter Cemetery, Tarentum. The New Kensington Eagles Ladies Auxiliary will hold a service at 6:30 PM Sunday evening in the funeral home.
