Roberta Ann “Bobbie Ann” (Sinclair) Aretz, 74, formerly of New Kensington, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014, at 1:05 p.m., in Family Hospice at Canterbury Place, Pittsburgh, with her family by her side. She was born Aug. 25, 1939, in New Kensington, to the late Robert and Elizabeth (Kirkwood) Sinclair, and was a resident of New Kensington all of her life. She was a member of The United Presbyterian Church of New Kensington, where she served on various committees. Roberta worked as a teacher’s aide for the former New Kensington-Arnold School District and at FPM, New Kensington, in addition to being a homemaker. Bobbie Ann graduated in 1957 as the last class to graduate from Ken High prior to the district becoming Valley School District. She enjoyed Starbucks coffee, shopping, camping, playing cards and spending time with family. She is survived by her daughters, Roberta Ann Eckman, of Buffalo Township, and Elizabeth W. Aretz, of Lower Burrell; her granddaughter, Elizabeth A. Plack, of Buffalo Township; and her beloved dogs. In addition to her parents mentioned above, she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Aretz Jr., on Jan. 9, 2011, after 53 years of marriage; and her brother, Dennis R. Sinclair. At Mrs. Aretz’s request, there will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, in The United Presbyterian Church, New Kensington, with her pastor, the Rev. Steve Crocco, officiating.
