Mr. Robert E. Peters, 67, of Natrona Heights, PA, Harrison twp., died on Wednesday, August 19, 1998 in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights.

Born on November 18, 1930, in Brackenridge, PA, he was a life-long resident of the area.

He graduated from Har-Brack High School, class of 1948; attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, class of 1952.

Mr. Peters established the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home in 1958.  He retired in 1994 after 42 years of service.

Mr. Peters was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Natrona heights; a member and past president of the Flying Funeral Directors of America and a member of the National, Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Funeral Directors Associations. He was also the founder and past president of the Alle-Kiski Valley Funeral Directors Association. Other offices and affiliations include: past president and treasurer of the Deer Lakes Pilots’ Club; past president of the Highlands Area Rotary Club; membership in the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of Bethesda, MD; the Tarentum Masons, Scottish Rite of Pittsburgh, Syria Shrine of Harmer Twp. and Allegheny Caravan # 16 of the Syria Temple; memberships at the Brackenridge Heights Country Club and the Kelly Greens Golf and Country Club of Ft. Myers, FL, as well as the Allegheny Valley Hospital Association, the Oregon Hunting and Fishing Club of Brackenridge, Eagles and Elks of Tarentum, a social membership at the Natrona Heights’ VFW and life membership at the Citizens Hose Fire Company.  

He is survived by his wife of 31 years: Carol [Mainor] Peters; a daughter: Mrs. Donald [Robin] Painter; four sons: Alan F. Peters of Imperial Beach, CA, John Adam [Karen] Peters of Natrona heights, Robert E. [Lynne] Peters II of New Kensington, W. Bradley Peters of Coronado Island, CA; his father and step-mother: Adam and Frances [Dugan] Peters of Brackenridge; his brother: Fred Peters of Trenton, MI; two sisters: Mrs. Fred [Martha Louise] Chick of Brackenridge and Mrs. Gary [Linda]  Schuller of Beaver Falls, PA.  He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Martha Gneiting Peters.

Family and friends will be received from 7-9 Sunday [August 23] and 2-4 and 7-9 Monday [August 24] in the Robert Peters Funeral Home, Inc., 1521 Freeport, Natrona Heights. A service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church at 11 AM on Tuesday, August 25, with his pastor, the reverend Jack F. Emerick, officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights. The Tarentum Masons will hold a service at 7:30 PM Monday in the funeral home.
