ROBERT KENNETH NORMANOF FRAZER TOWNSHIP, PARobert Kenneth (Ken) Norman, 91, of Frazer Township passed into the presence of his Savior and Lord on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. Ken was born in Creighton on October 20, 1920, to Robert Kennedy and Elizabeth Blanche Bandi Norman. He graduated from Tarentum High School in 1938 and worked at Norman's Pharmacy prior to joining the Army in 1942. He served in combat during World War II with the 465th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion in Patton's 3rd Army. He was awarded several medals including 4 Bronze Service Stars. After the war, he worked at Allegheny Ludlum Steel and married Sara Adams of Brackenridge in 1946. He worked for Gulf Oil as a research technician for over three decades, during which time he attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he studied engineering and chemistry. He also owned and operated Norman's Orchard in Frazer Township. Ken attended First Baptist Church in Upper Burrell. He was a member of the Natrona Heights VFW and a 50 year member of the Pollock Lodge. He was chairman of the Republican Party in Frazer Township for many years and served as a committeeman. He stayed active in the Republican Party until his death. Ken was predeceased by his wife, Doris Heighes Norman, whom he married in 1977; by his former wife, Sara Adams Norman; by his sister, Blanche Shaffer, formerly of Lower Burrell; and by his parents. He is survived by his daughter Diane Wooley and her sons Thomas and Scott of Shalimar, FL; his son Jeff Norman, his wife Leslie, and their children James, Rachel, Robert and Katie of Paradise Valley, AZ; his daughter Elaine Stoops, her husband Larry and their sons Brian and David Stoops of Sarver, PA; and two great- grandchildren. Family and friends are invited from 6-9 PM on Friday, March 16 to the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA (724-224-7730). Service will be at 11 AM on Saturday at Prospect Cemetery, 802 Tenth Avenue, Brackenridge, PA 15014 with the Reverend David Murphy, associate pastor, officiating, EVERYONE IS ASKED TO MEET AT THE CEMETERY.
