Robert G. “Jack” Alwine, 102, of Butler, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 27, 2018.
Jack was born the 7th of 14 children on February 13, 1915 in Butler to the late Christopher and Mary Zitzman Alwine. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Army, receiving the Purple Heart for his service in World War II. After the war he moved to Natrona Heights to work as a truck driver at Allegheny Ludlum ATI. Jack and his wife Helen brought up a son, Ronald, and a daughter, Jacquelyn. Later, Jack moved back to Butler with his daughter. Jack was a member of the Butler American Legion and a former member of the Saxonburg VFW. He was an avid Pirate and Steeler fan and enjoyed building model trains.
Jack is survived by his daughter, Jacquelyn Mayberry of Butler and a sister, Martha of Saxonburg.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Helen Cecilia Witsch Alwine (09/28/1977), his son, Ronald G. Alwine (11/26/1995), and his 12 brothers and sisters preceded his passing.
Jack was a good husband, father, and friend. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Family and friends are invited from 11 until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:30 PM on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065 (724-224-7730) where the Funeral Service will be led by Anthony Giammarco. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Tarentum, PA. Military honors will be accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard.
