Richard A. Swager, 88, of Fawn Township, passed away at home Monday, Jan. 14, 2019.
Richard was born in New Kensington on Sunday, April 13, 1930, to the late Albert C. and Annabelle Riley Swager. He was employed as a machinist by Alcoa in New Kensington and also worked at Portec of Blaw-Knox. Richard enjoyed boating, gardening and diving.
Richard is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley Bennett Swager; his children, Jay (Kathy) Swager, Linda (Bernard) Horgos, Gary (Brenda) Swager, Edie (Mike) Varhola, Tracy (John Paul) Derewicz and Patricia Huston; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Allan C. "Butch" Swager.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Blake Johns and Rachael Derewicz; and his siblings, Albert M. Swager Sr, Lois Mayhood and Kay Jenniches.
Family and friends are invited from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, to ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065 (724-224-7730), where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, with the Rev. Drew Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
