Regina Mary (Miller) Merkel

Regina Mary (Miller) Merkel, 90, of Natrona Heights passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022 peacefully at her home.  Regina was born on Monday, March 14, 1932 in Pittsburgh to the late Louis and Regina (Mattern) Miller. She was a waitress for many years at several local restaurants, including the Sunlight Inn and Joe Jack’s where she brought a smile to many faces and never met a stranger. She was a member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church of Guardian Angels Parish in Natrona Heights.  Regina is survived by her loving children: Paul Merkel, Jr. of Washington, WV; Janine (Laurence) Fanelli of Titusville; Stephen Merkel of Natrona Heights; Christine (Joseph) Pekny of West Lafayette, IN; and daughter-in-law Barbara (McDade) Merkel of Bluffton, SC; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, whom she was married to for almost 65 years; her son, Thomas Albert Merkel; her sister Patricia Minick; and her brother Louis Miller.

Family and friends are invited from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM on Friday, December 2, 2022 to the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065 (724-224-7730) where a parting prayer service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, December 3, 2022.  Funeral Mass will follow at 12:30 PM on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the Guardian Angels Parish-Most Blessed Sacrament Campus, 800 Montana Avenue, Natrona Heights, PA 15065 .  Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Freeport, PA.
