Pete J. Carraraof Freeport, PA Pete J. Carrara, 77, of Freeport, PA, died on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at the UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.Mr. Carrara was born on September 3, 1934 in Kiskimere Township, PA to the late Antonio and Teresa Cirio Carrara. He was a self employed contractor. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Freeport. Pete loved spending time with his family at the cottage, he enjoyed golfing, playing cards, cooking and he loved his Pittsburgh sports teams.He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Linda Lauffer Carrara; 2 daughters: Cyndee Heilman and Shelley Carrara both of Freeport; 4 grandchildren: Sarah Heilman (Michael) Rubis, Elias B. (Lindsay) Heilman and Maggee and Katie Carrara (Tantlinger); and a sister: Mary "Nin" DeSalvo of Boulder, CO.He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother: Joseph P. Carrara and a sister: Jean Alvino.At Mr. Carrara's request there will be no public visitation. Everyone is invited to a memorial service on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the United Presbyterian Church of Freeport, 411 High Street, Freeport, PA 16229 with the Reverend Doctors Page and Jerome Creach, officiating.
