Mrs. Mary E. (Body) Byers

Mary E. (Burns) Byers, 94, of Saxonburg, PA, died at Magnolia Place, Saxonburg, PA on Monday, May 10, 2021. Mary was born in Fairview Township, PA on Thursday, September 2, 1926 to the late Alfred A. and Blanche M. (Hildebrand) Burns. She was a member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxonburg, PA, where she was a liturgist and was a former member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Natrona Heights. Mary was a hospice and meals on wheels volunteer for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, embroidery and cooking. She was a loving mom, grandma and great grandma. Mary is survived by her husband: Francis (Lou) Byers; her children: Carla (Rich) Eilenfeld of Fawn Township, PA and Marta (Steve) Valencic of Land O Lakes, FL. Her grandchildren: Laura (Tab) Musser, Marci (Robb) Rusiewicz, Dean Sturgeon, Jeff (Noel) Sturgeon, Ryan (Ashley) Valencic and Steven Valencic. Her great grandchildren: Ivan, Nikolai, Jilian, Addie, Evie, Wolf, Bode, Addison, Mason, Reagan, Mackenzie and Sloan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband: Charles C. Body; her brothers: Edward and Alfred Burns and her sisters: M. Jean Dunlap and Margaret Ace. The family would like to thank the staff at Magnolia Place for the wonderful care that they gave to Mary.
As per Mary’s wishes she was cremated. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Pleasant Unity Presbyterian Church, 101 Millerstown Road, Tarentum, PA 15084 (Fawn Township) with the Rev. Shirey of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Burial will take place in Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights, PA following the service.
