Marjorie E. Sipes, 95, of Fawn Township, PA went to her heavenly home Monday, March 2, 2015 at Concordia Lutheran Home, Sarver, PA.

Mrs. Sipes was born on February 12, 1920 in Karns City, PA to the late Thomas and Mamie McCracken Yough.  Marjorie graduated from Fairview Twp/Karns City High School where she excelled in her studies and played tennis.  As a young girl, Marjorie rescued a small child playing on the railroad tracks.  She yelled to the little boy to get off the tracks as a train was coming.  Her warning went unheeded so absorbed was the toddler in play.  As the train came bearing down, she dashed onto the tracks and tossed the youngster aside before jumping to safety herself.  Marjorie lived 64 years in Fawn Township in the same home she and her husband bought when first coming to the Allegheny Valley.  She was a member of the Center United Methodist Church for over 60 years where in her former years she sang in the choir, was a Sunday School Teacher, a Bible School Teacher, and belonged to the Women’s Society.  She was also a Girl Scout leader in the community.  Marjorie enjoyed being a homemaker, reading, flowers, music, and her pets; and especially her family.  She was a devoted wife and mother and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her children: Dr. Glenn Sipes of Tucson Arizona; a daughter: Linda D. Sipes of Frazer Twp.; 3 grandchildren: Thomas S. (Amy) Beckes of Mars, Timothy L. G. (Kristin) Beckes of New Kensington, and Heather R. (Todd) Melle of Natrona Heights; 5 great grandchildren: Taylor R. Melle, Tanner R. Melle, Hunter R. Melle, Lauren M. Beckes, and Natalie R. Beckes, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Ivan I. Sipes in 1991; 3 brothers: Francis Eugene Yough in 2007, Marlin R. Yough in 1996, and an infant brother in 1922.
