Dear Randy,  I can't tell you how sorry I am to hear about your loss.  In some distant way you've always been a part of my life, like a cousin.  Indeed, you were there when my dad died.  It sounds like you had a rich relationship with your mother and many good memories.  Wish I could be there today to give you my best wishes,  Clarisse

73 years ago I was fortunate enough to have Miss Smith as my first grade teacher. Of course soon after she became Mrs. Peffer much to the disappointment of many grade school boys that were in love with her. What a beautiful person and wonderful teacher. She amazed me because even after 70 years she still recognized and remembered us kids. My sincere sympathies go to the family and friends that I know will miss her. How good of God to have placed her in your lives.

I was so saddened to hear of the death of my favorite teacher.  Mrs. Peffer was always such a sweet teacher and she looks just as lovely as I remember her from over 30 years ago.  She was always so thoughtful and caring.  She continued to always ask about me as the years went by, which made me feel so fortunate to have had such a wonderful teacher.  When my daughter passed away in March of 2012, she wrote me a personal letter, which made me feel so loved by her.  May all teachers aspire to be like she was.  Rest in Peace Mrs. Peffer.

Mrs. Peffer was an amazing teacher!  Thank you for instilling such a joy for learning (especially reading!) in me in first grade.  Randy, I am so sorry for your loss.  I don't know if you knew that your Mom gave me a copy of your book to review before it was placed in the high school library in 1980.  She was a special lady whose teaching touched so many of the children of Brackenridge.

I am 50 years old and living a productive and successful life in Nashville TN.  I got one of the best foundations from teachers like Mrs. Peffer.  Mrs. Peffer taught me for both first and second grade and she was absolutely wonderful!  I will never forget her gentle but firm way of teaching.  I'll never forget how she taught us phonics using puppets.  I send my deepest condolences and thank you for the gift she was to so many of the kids of Brackenridge!
