Marian L. (Smith) Peffer

Marian L. Peffer, 94, of Brackenridge, PA, died on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at UPMC-St. Margaret Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.
Marian was born on September 17, 1920 in Natrona Heights, PA to the late Kirk E. and Ethel A. Brewer Smith. She graduated from Har-Brack High School Class of 1938, she then got her BS degree from Slippery Rock University and then took post grad classes at Penn State University. She taught in all 3 Brackenridge elementary schools from 1941 until retiring in 1983 after 36 years of service. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Tarentum where she was involved in the choir, as a Sunday school teacher and a Deacon. She was a member of the Civic Club, the former Brackenridge Heights Country Club as a golfing member and served as a Girl Scout Counselor. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing Bridge, gardening and anything that got her outdoors to enjoy nature. She spent her most enjoyable hours hiking, traveling and sailing with her son, Randy. To quote her attitude “I lived a life of fulfillment. I loved teaching and take pride in having been a teacher of the children in Brackenridge.”
She is survived by her son: Randall Scott (Jacqueline) Peffer of Andover, MA and her 2 grandchildren: Noah H. and Jacob R. Peffer and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Chester R. Peffer (March 14, 1999); and her siblings: William S., Kirk E., and Paul M. Smith, Dorothy W. Grimm and Esther A. Ilg.
Family and friends are invited from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Friday, January 9 to the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA (724-224-7730), where services will be at 11 AM on Saturday with the Reverend Philip A.
