Lydia Belle (McCollim) Simmers, 91, formerly of Beaver, PA died on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at the home of her daughter in Springfield, VA.
Lydia was born on Wednesday, October 17, 1928, in New Kensington, PA, to the late John Jackson McCollim, Sr. and Lucy Hodgson McCollim. She was a graduate of Ken High class of 1947. She moved to Beaver in 1954 and was there until moving to Virginia to live with her daughter. She was a nurse’s aide at Beaver Valley Geriatrics Center retiring in 1993 with 25 years of service. Lydia enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, playing cards and going to South Bethany Beach, DE with her sisters and nieces.
Lydia is survived by her children: Linda (Donald) Cafrelli of Industry, PA and Sharon (Tom) Smith of Springfield, VA; her brother: John (Jackie) McCollim of Chesapeake, VA and her sister: Blanche (Ronald) McNabb of New Kensington: 4 grandchildren: Brandi (Heath) Bartley of Beaver, PA, Jason (Beri) Cafrelli of Clinton, PA, Jessica (Shannon) Smith of Dublin, VA and Ryan (Malie) Smith of Kalaheo, HI; 7 great-grandchildren: Alayna and Ava Cafrelli of Clinton, PA, Bayli Bartley of Beaver, PA, Adrian and Liam Smith of Kalaheo, HI and Beth and Peyton Routh of Dublin, VA; a sister-in-law: Betty Sinclair of New Kensington, PA and a brother-in-law: George Milisits of Rochester, NY and many nieces, nephew, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Robert Roy Simmers; her brothers: Frederick, Wesley and Larry McCollim and her sisters: Betty Harris, Catherine Berlinski, Zetta Lynn and Patricia Milisits.
Family and friends are invited from 4-8 PM on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at the CHURCHFIELD-PETERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 501 Fifth Ave., New Kensington. Services and burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 21, 2019 in the chapel at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell, PA with the Rev. Wendy Keys, officiating.
