Loretta T. (Truby) Dohmen, 92, of Sarver, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at UPMC—St. Margaret, Pittsburgh.
She was born August 23, 1931 in Brackenridge to the late Clinton and Irene (Himber) Truby. She resided in Sarver, Buffalo Township for sixty years.
Loretta graduated from Har-Brack High School in the Class of 1949 before starting work at PPG as an inventory clerk. It was during her time at PPG that she met the love of her life and future husband Roy Dohmen. After nearly a decade at PPG, Loretta became a mother of three wonderful children: Alan, Dorian and Chris.
Later, Loretta served as the school secretary in the Freeport Area School District, at Buffalo Elementary, prior to becoming a pro shop employee for the Buffalo Golf Course. She made many lasting relationships over the years of her employment.
She was a long time and faithful member of the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Natrona Heights from its inception.
Loretta enjoyed being the ‘heart’ of her extended family’s network, always staying connected to her loved ones, both near and far. She loved being the center of attention. Her list of hobbies included crocheting, golfing, playing cards (including her card club that spanned over four decades), remaining in contact with her high school classmates, and watching games shows and soap operas. However, she always said her most important role in life was being a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Caring for her parents and helping to raise her grandchildren were her top priorities.
Loretta leaves behind her devoted children, Alan Dohmen of Lolo, MT, Dorian (David) Cohn of Poway, CA, Christopher (Pam VanTine) Dohmen of Buffalo Twp., and her two grandsons, David Milton Cohn, III and Daniel Roy Cohn.
In addition to her parents mentioned above, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy W. Dohmen on May 26, 1983, and her two brothers, Melvin and Kenneth Truby.
Family and friends may call from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, July 24th. at the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights (724-224-7730), where funeral ceremonies will be held at 11 am on Thursday, July 25th with the Rev.
