Mrs. Laura M. Zalenskiof Natrona, PALaura M. Zalenski, 87, of Natrona, PA, died on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot, PA.Mrs. Zalenski was born on February 17, 1923 in Natrona, PA to the late Peter and Felixa Rutkowski Orkwiszewski and lived there all of her life. She was a member of the St. Joseph Parish-St. Ladislaus Church, Natrona, where she enjoyed volunteering for fundraising events such as fish fries. She was a 1941 graduate of Har-Brack High School in Natrona Heights. She was a homemaker who enjoyed vacationing at the ocean, collecting sea shells and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing bingo, visiting Atlantic City and recently the casinos in Pennsylvania.She is survived by her children: Joseph (Charlotte) Zalenski of Plum Boro., PA and Carol Deverell of Natrona Heights, PA; 5 grandchildren: Dr. Michelle Zalenski of Hilo, HI, Staci Deverell (Jeff) Balog of Natrona Heights, Tracey Zalenski of Plum Boro., Jennifer (B.J.) Kemmerer of Plum Boro. and Keith (Orit) Deverell of Myrtle Beach, SC. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren: Ivana Perez of Myrtle Beach, Breanna, Anthony, Zachary and Gabrielle Balog all of Natrona Heights; Logan, Cole, Braden and Ethan Kemmerer all of Plum Boro. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Joseph Zalenski (1996); her son in law: Harry Deverell; her brothers: Stanley, Joseph and Chester Orkwiszewski and sisters: Mary Dutkwiecz, Ann Kort and Genevieve Kolodzieski. Family and friends are invited from 7-9 PM on Thursday at the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065 (724-224-7730). A parting prayer service will be at 11 AM on Friday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Ladislaus Church with the Reverend William P. Siple, parochial vicar, officiating. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Township, PA.
