Laura B. Shoemaker ElliottFormerly of Natrona Heights, PALaura B. Shoemaker Elliott, 93, of Winfield Township, formerly of Natrona Heights, PA, died on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Fairwinds Manor, Winfield Township. Prior to moving to Fairwinds Manor she resided at Mason's Personal Care Home in Sarver.Laura was born on December 7, 1918 in Jefferson Co. to the late Don A. and Gladys McAninch Heeter. She was a graduate of the New Bethlehem High School class of 1936 and attended Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a ward clerk in the operating room of Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights for 16 years. She was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church, Tarentum where she was an elder and trustee. She was also a member of the Cheswick Eastern Star, the Woman's Club of Allegheny Valley and AARP. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening and cross word puzzles.She is survived by her children: Donald R. (Amber) Shoemaker of Buffalo Township, PA; Paul T. Shoemaker of Tarentum, PA and Patricia Groom of Las Vegas, NV; her step children: Keith (Sally) Rankin of Buffalo Township, PA and David (Judy) Boggs of Apex, NC; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; 3 half-brothers: Paul (Ann) Heeter of Butler, PA, William (Pat) Heeter of Rimersburg, PA and George (Marty) Heeter of Minden, NV.She was preceded in death by her first husband: Paul T. Shoemaker; her second husband: James D. Elliott; her mother: Gladys McAninch Heeter; her father and step mother: Don A. and Nora Armstrong Heeter; her brother: Robert Cresswell and her aunt and uncle who raised her: William D. and Jessie Irene Cowan.Family and friends are invited from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Tuesday to the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA (724-224-7730), where a service will be at 11 AM on Wednesday with the Reverend Sara Wrona, officiating.
