Larry R. Deskinsof Natrona Heights, PALarry R. Deskins, 74, of Natrona Heights, PA, died on Sunday, June 12, 2011 surrounded by his family.Larry was born on April 30, 1937 in Brackenridge, PA to the late Robert 'Curly' and Martha Donnell Deskins and was a lifelong resident in the valley. He was an Army veteran. He graduated for Har Brack High School-Class of 1955 and a Pittsburgh University graduate-class of 1971. He had worked as a manager at Allegheny Ludlum retiring in 1985 after 30 years of service. After retiring he worked at Tippons Corporation and Heinz Corporation. He was a member of the Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, Natrona Heights. He was a member of the American Society for Training and Development, International Association of Business Communication, Alle-Kiski Personnel Association, Pittsburgh Industrial Communicators Association and the Pittsburgh Industrial Communication Association where he was past president of all. He was a member of the Allegheny Valley Chamber of Commerce. He also has published articles for the Training and Development Journal and short stories for various papers. He was a musician for over 30 years and was a drummer for numerous local and city bands.He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Judith Linkenheimer Deskins; his children: Cheryl Finley (Norm Walters) of Tarentum, Leanne (Don) Hubert of Freeport and Eric Deskins (Denise Koenig) of Fawn Township; 5 grandchildren: Matthew Finley, Aaron Deskins (US Navy), Carly Deskins, Dalton Hubert and Jesse Hubert; a sister: Linda (Ron) Bures of New Smyrna Beach, FL.He was preceded in death by his parents. Family and friends are invited from 4-6 PM on Wednesday to the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA (724-224-7730), where a parting prayer service will be at 6 PM on Wednesday. A mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6:30 PM at Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church with the Reverend James K. Mazurek, officiating. Private burial will follow.
