John Andrew LeonardiOf Buffalo Township, PAJohn Andrew Leonardi (64) of Buffalo Township passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2011 while biking on the Buffalo Trails. He was born on October 1, 1947 in New Kensington to Rosalie Pellegrini Leonardi of Arnold, PA and the late John Bosco Leonardi. A 1965 graduate of Arnold High School, John attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he received a Bachelor of Science in Education and Master's Degrees. John retired after having taught for 35 years in the New Kensington-Arnold School District as a math and computer science teacher. He was a past president of New Ken-Arnold Teacher's Association. John was also a past Director of the Private Industry Council's Summer Program for At-Risk Adolescents for 12 years.John loved to travel and spend time with his family. An avid golfer, John enjoyed golf trips to North Carolina, Hilton Head, Arizona and many local courses. He enjoyed the fellowship of his bowling league and hosting a teacher picnic at his home each year for over 23 years. Working out at Shrec's Health Club was a favorite pastime. He was a member of Freeport Kiwanis. He liked photography and had taken pictures at weddings in past years. Hiking in the Butler Freeport Trails, biking and kayaking were favorite activities. John also loved watching the Steelers and Pitt basketball and football.He and his wry sense of humor will be truly missed by his survivors: his mother, Rosalie; his wife, Sharon Rummell Leonardi of 26 years; sister-in-law Linda Rummell Schaefers and brother-in-law, Gary Schaefers; his in-laws, Red and Mary Ann Rummell; his two nieces, Jessica (James) Campana and Jacqueline Lee Schaefers and his great nephew, Anthony Brayden Campana. He is also survived by several Leonardi aunts and uncles. John also leaves his beloved golden retriever, Marley.Family and Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 Wednesday at the Robert Peters Funeral Home, Inc., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065 (724) 224-7730, where a service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday with the Reverend Justin Judy, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating.
