Joann Bakerof Upper Burrell Twp., PAJoann Baker, 78, of Upper Burrell Township, PA, died on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at UPMC-St. Margaret Hospital, Pittsburgh.Mrs. Baker was born on July 9, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Albert C. and Josephine A. Ryan Gantner. She was a high school graduate and attended the University of New Hampshire. She worked for 20 years as a cafeteria aide at the Upper Burrell Elementary School and was also a homemaker. She is survived by her children: Cheryl A. (Mike Dougherty) Stadterman, Tami L. (James E.) Smith, Joseph A. Baker, Jr. and his fiancé Nancy Kantorski, and Thomas C. (Lisa Kacy) Baker all of Upper Burrell Township; 5 grandchildren: Richard G. (Jodi Dickson) Stadterman, Ashley M. Smith, Kristi L. Smith, Kacy M. Baker and Gabrielle L. Baker; and 1 great grandchild: Geri Lyn Stadterman; a sister: Geraldine Turck of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Joseph A. Baker, Sr. to whom she was married to for 46 years; and a sister: Patricia Stimmel.Family and friends are invited from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday in the CHURCHFIELD-PETERS FUNERAL HOME, 501 Fifth Avenue, New Kensington, PA 15068 (724-335-1951), where services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday with the Reverend Ed Gratton, officiating.
