Mrs. Jean E. Shumaker
Formerly of Natrona Heights, PA
Jean (Elwood) Shumaker, 91, formerly of Natrona Heights, died on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at the Arden Court, Pittsburgh. She was born on Monday, May 27, 1929 in Buffalo Township, PA and lived most of her life in Natrona Heights. She was a 1947 graduate of Har-Brack High School and a 1978 graduate of Allegheny Community College. Prior to marriage, she worked at both Alcoa Research and at PPG Research. She married Paul J. Shumaker on April 5, 1952 and they enjoyed 46 years together. In their later years they enjoyed golfing and traveling. Jean was an excellent homemaker and baked the best lemon meringue and coconut cream pies! She was an active member of Grace United Methodist church and volunteered at the Allegheny Valley Hospital as well as the Alle-Kiski Health Foundation. She is survived by two daughters, Janet Farren of the North Hills, and Linda McMannis of New Kensington, three grandsons – Will Farren (Kaytee), Stephen and Timothy McMannis, great granddaughter Rosalie Grace and her sister Marjorie Walters of York, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 1998, her parents Edwin and Mary (Wagner) Elwood, her brothers John and Harold and her sister, Grace Beers.
Family and friends are invited from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Sunday, March 7, 2021 to the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065 (724-224-7730) where funeral services will be held on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 1:00 PM with the Reverend Dr. Andrew Spore, officiating.
