Janice R. PechanFormerly of Natrona Heights, PAJanice R. Pechan, 84, of Monroeville, PA formerly of Natrona Heights, PA, died on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Cedars Hospice of Monroeville.Mrs. Pechan was born on Sunday, July 26, 1925 in Latrobe, PA to the late James F. and Elva Orndorf Roberts. She was a women's page writer for the Valley News Dispatch and prior to that worked for the PA Railroad and the Latrobe Bulletin. She was a member of the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church of Brackenridge. She traveled with great enthusiasm and enjoyed many Elderhostel (now Road Scholar) programs as well as numerous cruises to many destinations. Janice also had a passion for reading.She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years: Edward H. Pechan, Jr. as well as his children: Edward H. Pechan, III of Florida and Janice Elizabeth Pechan of Greensburg, PA. She is also survived by her sister: Lydia Ann Coulter of Fleetville, PA and a brother: James Roberts of Florida. She will also be missed by a daughter in law: Mary K. (Norm) McDonald. Janice took great joy in her grandchildren, especially Gwendolyn Pechan and Bethany Bennett who grew up in Pittsburgh and granddaughter: Melissa Duffeler from Virginia. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren, her niece Cynthia Marcinik of Latrobe, PA and a nephew: George (Rob) Coulter of PA. Family and friends are invited from 2-4 PM on Sunday only to the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA (724-224-7730), where services will be held on Monday at 12:00 PM in the funeral home.
