I was saddened to hear about Jack passing recently. I had worked with him in physical therapy and each and every time that he was there, Jack worked hard to improve his strength and endurance. I really enjoyed working with him, and even thought it was a short period, he struck me as a very caring and personable man. My thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family. V. George Sosnick

My sincere sympathies and condolences to the Maurer family. Jack played an important part in my life as he guided Troop 395. His guidance put me on the path to become an Eagle Scout, an honor I hold very dearly.

Fond memories of Jack and his family visiting Wrightsville Beach to attend many Sea Horse Institute Marine Corrosion Forums. His sharing of industrial experience with marine grade alloys was always welcome by "old- pros" and
novices alike.

Jack and I first met when I became a member of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers in 1979. I was new to the Pittsburgh Section and Jack made me feel welcome to the section. Over the years, we worked together on many technical activities and conferences for NACE. He was always willing to help me if I had a technical question or just needed a second opinion on a material selection for a specific application to a project that I was working on for DRAVO Chemical Plants Division. To Jack's family, please accept my sincere sympathies. Jack was a kind and generous man. He helped so many people in so many different ways. He will be truly missed. God bless you Jack. I am so fortunate to have known you.

Jack & I first met as friendly competitors when I was with Trent Tube. We became friends during my years at Rolled Alloys. Most memorable was celebrating his 55th birthday in London.
He was a gentle man. I'll miss him.

We are very sorry to hear of Jack'a passing. I had the privilege of knowing Jack and traveling with him at ATI. He was a gentleman and and a "character"with a joke too far behind. He was a great metallurgical engineer, and a authority in that field. I will miss Jack, but I know that he is in better place.

Mrs. Maurer, Mindy, Keith and family,
We can not even begin to tell you what a great influence Mr. Maurer was for our family. When Jeff had to take over as Scoutmaster he didn't even know where to start. Thanks to Mr. Maurer's guidance, dedication and patience, we have been able to keep Troop 395 going strong and watching many of our young men become Eagle Scouts. He was a big part of our 3 boys trail to Eagle and we are so proud to have 3 Eagle Scouts in our family. We are more than pleased to have your dear grandson, Keith, be a part of our Scout family and we promise you that we will keep him on track and help him achieve the highest award in Scouting. We know Mr. Maurer will be smiling down on him from heaven! Thank you so much for letting Mr. Maurer be a part of all of our lives and your scout family will always be here if you need anything!! Much love to you all!
