Gertrude A. Durkac
Of Natrona Heights, PA
Gertrude (Trudy) Glendening Durkac, of Harrison, died peacefully in her sleep January 19 at Applewood Personal Care Home in Brackenridge. Trudy was born on January 23, 1938, in New Kensington, and she moved to Harrison in 1948, where she grew up. Trudy lived the rest of her life in the valley and in Springdale and Harrison for the great majority of her life.
Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, O Eugene and Mary (Ellis) Glendening and her husband: Rudolph E. Durkac. Survivors include her daughters: Lori (Daniel) Kisiel and Robin (Tim) Durkac-Phillips; granddaughter: Danielle Kisiel, and step-grandson: Jeremy Phillips, all of Harrison. In addition, Trudy is survived by her brothers: Jim Glendening of Toledo, OH, and George Glendening (Kay) of Harrisburg, PA, as well as three nieces, four great-nieces, and two great-nephews.
Trudy was long and lovingly cared for by the staff of Applewood Personal Care Home (Brackenridge), where she was treated as a family member.
Trudy had a passion and commitment to Bible study and served the Lord Jesus all her adult life. She will be deeply missed in departing this life, but she surely “awoke in the Land of Glory”.
Family and friends are invited from 2-4 and 6-9 PM on Wednesday, January 22 to the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA (724-224-7730), where services will be at 11 AM on Thursday with the Reverend David H. Grissom, of the St. Albans Anglican Church of Murrysville, officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
