Frank J. Welling, Sr., 90, of Natrona Heights, PA, died on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot, PA.  

Frank was born on August 14, 1923, in Tarentum, PA to the late James L. and Anna Leipertz Welling. he was a graduate of Har-Brack Union High School class of 1942. He was a Corporal in the   Marine Corps serving during WW II in the 2nd Marine Air Wing in the Asiatic Pacific Theater notable the Okinawa Campaign.  He was a machinist at Westinghouse in Cheswick retiring in 1986 after 28 years of service.  He was a member of the Grace United Church, Natrona Heights where he was a member of the Emory Roberts Sunday School Class, head usher and a long time coach bus driver.  He was a member of the MORA club of Brackenridge, Honorary member of the Highland Hose Fire Co. of Tarentum, former member and manager of the Tarentum Red Knights Drum and Bugle Corp. and in 2006 was inducted into the Pennsylvania Drum and Bugle Corps Hall of Fame, a member and past president of both the Atomic Division Federal Credit Union and the Local #1914 Retirees.  He was and avid wood worker and model builder and he enjoyed golfing and bowling.

Frank is survived by his children: Terry A. Welling of Natrona Heights and Darla Welling Toborky of South Buffalo Twp., PA; a brother: Richard Welling of Boneau, SC; and a sister Mary Wolfe of Willingboro, NJ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 67 years: Janet P. Hill Welling who passed away on February 16, 2014; his son: Frank J. Welling, Jr. (2012) and 4 brothers: William (in infancy), James, Robert and Russell Welling.  
          
Family and friends are invited from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Tuesday, April 8  to the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA (724-224-7730), where services will be at 11 AM on Wednesday with the Reverend Justin Judy, officiating. Private burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery, Brackenridge.  Military honors will be accorded by the Tarentum VFW Honor Guard at the funeral home.
