Eugene Hawk, Jr. Obituary

Eugene R. Hawk, Jr.

of Plum Borough, PA

Eugene R. Hawk, Jr.  93, of Plum went home to his Lord on Monday, October 31, 2022.  He was born in New Kensington on Thursday, November, 29, 1928 to the late Eugene R. Hawk, Sr. and Beulah (Anderson) Hawk.  He served in the Army during the Korean War.  He worked as a self-employed auto body repairman and towing service operator, well known in the area as Hawk Auto Body & Towing.  He was proud to say he towed nearly 50 thousand cars over his long career, providing towing services to all of the New Kensington area car dealers and other businesses.  He even traveled as far as Detroit and Baltimore.  His passion was in antique and classic cars.  He traveled for many years to the Hershey and Carlisle car shows, and served as a judge and parts vendor.  He was particularly fond of the Ford Model A, Galaxie and Mustang.  He was a 50-plus year member of the Antique Automobile Club of America, and was always willing to offer advice to others interested in the restoration of antique autos.  Eugene was a member of the Logans Ferry Presbyterian Church, and over the years served as a youth group sponsor, Sunday School opening exercise leader, Trustee and Elder.  He was also a member of the Allegheny Foothills Historical Society, which operates the Carpenter Log House in Boyce Park.  He enjoyed weekend boating and fishing vacations to Lake Chautauqua in NY, and also enjoyed planting flowers and vegetable gardens.  Eugene is survived by his son, Richard A. Hawk of Plum, and his loving companion, Betty Sinclair of New Kensington.  He is also survived by his sister, Evelyn Sprankle of Niagara Falls, NY, and brother, Henry Hawk of Denver, CO; in-laws Wayne McAllister of Upper Burrell, Gordon & Pat McAllister of Export, Dorothy McAllister of Tyrone, and Sally McAllister of Oakdale; and cousin June McAfee of Fordham, and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Norma McAllister Hawk; sister Donna Hawk Rugh; brothers-in-law James McAllister, Donald McAllister, Darren “Tubby” Rugh, and David “Bud” Sprankle; sisters-in-law Antonia “Toni” Hawk, and Frances McAllister; niece Cindy Rugh Brzozowski; nephews, Thomas and Scott McAllister; and cousin Chuck “Chuckie” Hawk.
