EDWARD HUBERT PECHAN, JR.Formerly of Natrona Heights, PAEdward Hubert Pechan, Jr. born August 11, 1921 in Ford City, Pa., and a long time resident of Natrona Heights, left to be with the Lord February 21, 2013 from Redstone Highlands, Greensburg. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Janice M. Roberts. He was the loving Father of his son Edward H. Pechan, III of Hernando, Florida and daughter, Janice E. Pechan of Greensburg, Pa.; devoted Grandfather of three granddaughters, Gwendolyn Pechan of Pittsburgh, Bethany Bennett of Holly Springs, Georgia and Melissa Pechan of Plantation, Florida and 8 great grandchildren. Ed was also preceded in death by his parents Edward H. and Elizabeth Mary (Kamer) Pechan and his only sibling, Raymond Pechan.Ed graduated from Ford City High School in 1939. He proudly was a 1948 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University in Electrical Engineering. Earning his degree was interrupted by his service to our country in World War II. Ed served in the Army Air Corp in the Pacific Theater of Operations stationed in India and Tinian. His 444 Bomb Group got 6 Battle Stars and 2 Presidential Unit Citations.His employment history included U. S. Steel Homestead, West Penn Power, Central Electric Co-op and the Commonwealth of PA.Family and friends are invited from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM on Sunday, February 24, at the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065 (724-224-7730).
