DORA E. MICHAEL
OF FAWN TOWNSHIP, PA
Dora Elizabeth (Clough) Michael of Fawn Township entered into eternal life on February 2, 2015. She was 92 years old.
Dora was born on February 21, 1922 in Natrona Heights, PA to Leonard and Alma Ruth Clough. She was a 1939 graduate of Har-Brack High School. She married Wilbur (Red) Michael on December 22, 1945. Dora led a full life, touching the lives of many people through a variety of her life’s experiences. During her career as office secretary, first at Fawn Township Elementary School, and later at Highlands Junior High School, Dora was a smiling face to all of the students and staff who walked through the door. Many people would walk up to her in local stores and relate their stories of her acts of kindness. Dora’s life reached beyond her career. She was an active member of Pleasant Unity United Presbyterian Church, where she was the first woman elder elected to Session. As a faithful member of the church, she served many roles, including teaching Sunday School up until she was 90 years old. Her family commented that if the church doors were open, Dora was there. She was also involved in Presbyterian Women of Pittsburgh Presbytery, taking several mission trips with the Presbytery, including a trip to India, where she was blessed by the Dalai Lama. Dora spent a great deal of her retirement in service to others. For 26 years, she volunteered at Highland Area Meals on Wheels, delivering meals every Friday with her son David. She was also a volunteer at the Presbyterian SeniorCare in Oakmont, where she would drive residents to their doctor’s appointments. Dora was a member of several local service organizations, some of which included Community Service Club, Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank, the Interfaith Hospitality Network; and was a charter member of Fawn #1 Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She also was a member of several bowling leagues.
Dora is survived by her children, David and Donna Michael of Sarver, and Deborah Bell of Slippery Rock; her grandchildren, Jeff and Theresa Michael of Fawn Township, Lisa and Brian Weiland, of Freeport, Jason Bell and Jill Perry of Evans City, Rachel and Troy Painter of Shady Side, MD, Zac Rayburn of Cambridge Springs, Matt Rayburn, and Brittany Smith of Butler; her great-grandchildren Drake Weiland, Sierra and Silvi Bell, Lexi Painter; and her great-great granddaughter, Brandi Rayburn; her sisters, Ruth Donnell of Sarver and Phyllis Breck and her husband Neville of Valencia; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
