Diane Sue (Smith) Kuhn, 70, of Cabot, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2025, while comforted by family. The daughter of George and Agnes (Burd) Smith, Diane was born on August 4, 1954 at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights.
Diane graduated from Freeport High School in 1972 and went on to pursue a career as an insurance clerk at Prudential and Metropolitan Life Insurance companies. In 1986 she left her career to dedicate her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her husband and their two children, which included cooking family dinners every night and curating magical holiday celebrations.
Diane found joy in many hobbies, including poetry, painting, stamping, and reading. She loved to spend the day at Lake Erie searching for charming stones and shells; she also enjoyed attending outdoor concerts, especially those performed by her favorite local band, The Clarks. During the summertime she delighted in picking black raspberries that she used in her almost-famous black raspberry pies. Diane was a woman of great faith and was a lifelong member of Center United Methodist Church in Natrona Heights, PA, where she dedicated many years as both a Sunday school teacher and a youth group leader. Diane had an immense love for animals and was never without at least one furry companion throughout her life. She rescued and rehomed several stray cats, along with their kittens, and if a bug happened to make its way indoors she’d scoop it up and release it outside, unharmed. Her tenderness for animals knew no bounds. Diane also absolutely adored children; she volunteered for all of the holiday parties and field trips for her own children while they were in school, and she spent several summers as a camp counselor at Jumonville Christian Camp & Retreat Center. Additionally, she was a childcare provider for several families through the years. She also had a very special bond with her granddaughter, Aria, and enjoyed every moment they spent together.
Diane’s journey was marked by her fun-loving spirit, her sense of humor, her kindness, and her love for her family. Her laughter and compassion were gifts to everyone who knew and loved her.
Diane is survived by her husband of 43 years, Darrell, and her two children, Jamie Lebetz (Michael) and Tori Kuhn, as well as her granddaughter, Aria. In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her brother, Glenn Smith.
Although Diane’s physical journey is complete and a void has been left in our hearts, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. We may carry forth her legacy of love and compassion in all that we do.
In keeping with Diane’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.
