Charles J. “Chas” Simoni, Sr., 74, of Tarentum, PA passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 18, 2025.
Born January 11, 1951, in New Kensington, he was the son of the late Peter G. and Mary Sam Simoni and the stepson of the late Oscar Berkoben. Chas was a proud member of the first graduating class of Valley High School in 1968. After earning his associate’s degree, he went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army during 1971. Chas went on to build a long career as an electronic repairman, working 31 years at Allegheny Ludlum and later 17 years with Blackburn Pharmacy.
A devoted member of Guardian Angels Parish, Chas was also a passionate sports enthusiast and loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins. His love of athletics extended into his community, where for nearly 40 years he coached baseball and officiated PIAA football. For two decades, he also gave his time to the Diamond Club Bingo. Outside of work and volunteering, Chas delighted in cooking and baking, playing games with his grandchildren, and gathering with family for cards. Above all, family was the center of his life and he cherished time with his loved ones.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Monica (Stanzione) Simoni; his children, Charles “Chas” (Lisa) Simoni, Jr. of Tarentum and Melanie (Brian) Ferra of Lower Burrell; his grandchildren: Gianna, Sophia, and Addison Simoni, Bailey, and Maia, Dominic, and Nikolas Ferra; his siblings: David (Nancy) Simoni of Arnold, Jeffery (Susan) Simoni and Mark (Carol) Simoni, both of New Kensington, and Terri Simoni Adams of Leechburg.
Chas will be remembered for his dedication to family, his love of sports, and his generous spirit that touched the lives of so many.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 AM at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 800 Montana Ave., Natrona Heights, PA 15065 with the Reverend Andrew Fisher, officiating (everyone please meet at the church).
