Carol Ann (Crosby) Walters, 88 of Oakmont, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2024, after a brief illness.
Carol was born on Saturday, November 14, 1936 in Tarentum, PA to the late William and Ruth (Wissinger) Crosby where she enjoyed her childhood along with her two younger siblings. Carol attended Tarentum High School where she met many of her lifelong friends including her husband, John A. Walters. Carol continued her education at Penn State University and Indiana University of Pennsylvania earning a Baccalaureate Degree in Education. She went on to teach 5th grade at Buffalo Elementary School in Sarver, PA for over 10 years.
Carol and John resided in the Tarentum area for over 20 years before moving to Fox Chapel, PA. Once retired, Carol and John then moved to Hilton Head, SC where they resided for over 20 years. Upon John’s death in 2019, Carol returned to the Pittsburgh area, reuniting with many lifelong friends.
Carol was intrigued by learning a new skill or hobby. Over the course of her lifetime, she never lost her curiosity to acquire new interests. Whether she was traveling to China to visit her nephew or spending the summer drinking wine in the French countryside with her husband John, she was never one to shy away from an adventure. She was an avid reader and bridge player, crafter and artist, life-long golf and tennis player, and enjoyed the symphony and performing arts. Carol was known among family and friends to be an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing her recipes with others. She had a keen eye for fashion, and was always dressed in style, even in her later years.
Carol is survived by her sons: John (Sara) Walters, Jr. of Berlin, MD, Cary (Lisa) Walters of Table Rock, SC., and Daniel (Cynthia) Walters of Natrona Heights; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; her brother, Jack (Stephany) Crosby of Denver, CO, sister, Helen (Russell) Beason of Litchfield, IL, and sister-in-law Linda Walters of Sarver, PA.
In addition to her parents and husband John, she was preceded in death by her son Matthew.
Family and friends are invited from 4:00PM – 6:00PM on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065 (724-224-7730) where funeral services will follow at 6:00PM with the Reverend Jonathan Hill officiating.
