Bruce L. Hummel, 83, of Fawn Township, PA, died on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights, PA.
Bruce was born on September 17, 1929 in Auburn, PA to the late H. Roy and Saide Herring Hummel. He served as a Rifleman with the 20th Infantry Regiment, 6th Infantry Division at Camp Sykes, Korea. He worked at Allegheny Ludlum retiring in 1980 after 32 years. He was a member of the Brackenridge American Legion. He also liked toe play his guitar, fish, travel woodwork and he loved old cars.
He is survived by his children: Derry (Teresa) Hummel of Ohio and Darryl G. (Debra) Hummel of Allegheny Township, PA; 6 grandchildren: Jason (Shellie) Hummel, Erik (Angie) Hummel, Joshua, Meghan, Michael and Tammy; 9 great grandchildren; a brother: Merritt J. Hummel and his very close friend: Helen Vernam of Brackenridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife whom he was married to for 52 years before her death in March, 14, 2002: Evelyn June Schreckengost Hummel; five brothers: Paul, Stanley, Lynn, Harold and Henry Hummel; and 2 sisters: Cathren and Ruth Heffner.
Family and friends are invited from 6-8 PM on Friday, May 17 to the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA (724-224-7730), where services will be at 11 AM on Saturday.
