Bertha May Venatta, 102, of New Kensington, PA, went home to be with the Lord at 2:25 PM Wednesday, June 3, 2015 in Good Samarian Hospice at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot, PA.
Bertha was born on Saturday, December 28, 1912 in Cowanshannok Twp., PA. She worked as a salesperson at Vendig Children’s Shop in New Kensington, PA. Bertha was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Kensington, volunteered at Citizen’s Hospital and the New Kensington Blood Bank for over 30 years, enjoyed bowling, cards, family vacations, and spending time with her family.
Bertha is survived by her daughter-in-law: Joyce Venatta of New Kensington, PA; 2 grandchildren: Robert (Susan) Venatta and Susan (Mack) McClelland; 6 great-grandchildren: Joy (Matt) Hopkins, Jason (Amy Jo) Howard, Lauren Callaway, Christopher (Bridget) Venatta, Grace Venatta, and Emma Venatta; 6 great-great grandchildren; 1 sister: Lois (Ray) Hulton of Uniontown, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Verle Venatta, in January 1980; her son, Richard Venatta; and 2 brothers: Earl and Kenneth Truver.
Family and friends are invited from 2-4 and 6-7 PM on Friday, June 5, to the CHURCHFIELD-PETERS FUNERAL HOME, 501 Fifth Avenue, New Kensington, PA 15068 (724-335-1951) where a funeral service will be held Friday evening at 7 PM with her great-grandson, Pastor Jason Howard, and her nephew, Pastor Keith Hulton, officiating.
