Andy J. VeresOf Plum Borough, PAAndy J. Veres, 78, of the Logans Ferry Heights Section of Plum Borough, PA, died on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Harmar Village, Harmar, PA.Mr. Veres was born on November 30, 1932 in Clairton, PA to the late John and Clara Gara Veres, Sr. He was an Air Force Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a research technician at US Steel where he retired in 1984 after 34 years of service. He was a member at the Puckety Presbyterian Church of Lower Burrell where he was very active. He was a member of the Lower Burrell VFW and was at one time was active in the fire police of the Logans Ferry Fire Department. He was an avid sports fan. He is survived by his son: Drew J. (Andrea) Veres of Plum Borough and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Sylvia F. Stinson Veres (Dec. 16, 1986); a son: Mark V. Veres; a sister: Clara Chizer; and his brothers: John, Jr. and Paul L. VeresFamily and friends are invited from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Wednesday in the CHURCHFIELD-PETERS FUNERAL HOME, 501 Fifth Avenue, New Kensington, PA 15068 (724-335-1951), where services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday with the Reverend Kirk A. Orr, officiating. Burial will follow at Plum Creek Cemetery, Plum Borough, PA. Military Honors will be accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard.
