Alice ElderOf Upper Burrell Township, PAAlice Elder, 95, of Upper Burrell Township, PA, died on Friday, October 14, 2011 at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital, Aspinwall, PA.Mrs. Elder was born on March 23, 1916 in Marion Center, PA to the late Clark and Ruth Hopkins Steele. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of New Kensington for over 50 years, serving as a deacon, teaching Sunday School classes, playing the piano when needed and singing in the church choir. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.She is survived by her 2 daughters: Evelyn (Warren) Waltonbaugh of New Kensington and Wynona (William) Ficzycz of Harrison Township, MI; 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and a sister: Eleanor Stewart of Apollo.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 73 years: Ernest E. Elder (March 5, 2011) and 3 sisters: Gertrude Webster, Emabel Farster and Margaret Work. There will be no public visitation. PLEASE NOTE: A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
