Alice E. Beeganof Baltimore, MDAlice Eliza Rowe Beegan, 84, of Baltimore, MD, died on Friday, April 30, 2010 at Gilchrist Center, Towson, MD.Mrs. Beegan was born on Friday, July 31, 1925 in Brackenridge, PA to the late George B. and Laura E. Berkes Rowe. She was a graduate of the Har-Brack High School class of 1943, University of Pittsburgh class of 1947 with a BS degree in Nursing and received her masters from the University of Chicago in Nursing. She worked at Allegheny Valley Hospital School of Nursing where she taught Obstetric Nursing, at St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing where she taught Obstetric Nursing, at Mount Sini Hospital at New York City, NY where she organized and set up the Obstetric Unit, at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, MD where she taught Obstetric Nursing, the Keswick Nursing Home where she was manager, and at Levingdale Nursing Home where she was nurse supervisor all for over 35 years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Natrona Heights and the Roland Avenue Evergreen United Methodist Church of Baltimore. She was a volunteer tour guide at the Irvine Center. She was an avid reader and loved gardening vegetables and flowers, and she enjoyed being around her family.She is survived by her children: Thomas G. Beegan of Baltimore, MD and Michael J. (Nini) Beegan of Towson, MD; 3 sisters: June A. Rowe and Dorothy A. Rowe both of Natrona Heights and Roxie M. Rowe Leightner of Charlotte, NC. 2 grandsons: Benjamin Joon and Christopher Bei Beegan She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: James A. Beegan (Dec. 8, 1984) and a brother: Ned George Rowe. Family and friends are invited from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Monday to the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA (724-224-7730). A service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with the Reverend Larry Pawson, officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
