Millard Raymond “Ray” Rivers, 85, of Slate Lick, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 surrounded by his family.
Ray was born in Olive Hill, KY on March 1, 1933 to the late Forest and Alma Hamm Rivers. He was an Army Veteran serving in Korea during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. Ray was employed by Hydro Group Corp as a Division Manager, retiring in 1993. He was an avid pilot and loved flying; he was a founding member of the Deer Lakes Pilots Club. He was a 25+ member of the Pollock Lodge of Tarentum, and he enjoyed working on tractors and spent many hours restoring vintage John Deere tractors.
Ray is survived by his wife: Mary Donna Rivers; a daughter: Marissa (Brandon) Rivers-Cobbett of Manor Township; a son: Justin Rivers of Monroeville, PA and grandsons: Brantley and Damon Cobbett. He is also survived by grandchildren: Cymber and Timothy Rivers of Cartersville, GA and 2 sisters: Opal Bowling and Barbara Henson both of Olive Hill, KY.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Raymond Rivers, and numerous brothers and sisters.
Family and friends are invited from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Monday, January 14, 2019 to the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065 (724-224-7730), where services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 15, 2019 with Rev. Dr. Andrew Spores. Burial will be private. The Tarentum Masons will meet in the funeral home at 7:00 PM on Monday. Military Honors will be accorded by the Vandergrift Honor Guard.
