Cheryl Helgert Obituary

Cheryl Coe (McKinney) Helgert, 63, of Freeport, PA went to be with her Maker on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh after a very sudden illness.

Cheryl was born in Natrona Heights on Tuesday, December 21, 1954 to the late George and Cozy (Fitzgerald) McKinney. She was a 1972 graduate of Highlands High School and received her associate degree, working as a research coordinator at Allegheny Valley Hospital where she would have retired next year.  Cheryl was a dedicated member of the Christ Our Rock Bible Church, South Buffalo and enjoyed gardening, where she had a knack for blooming perennials in each season, kayaking, biking, and snow shoeing.  Above all, Cheryl loved cooking, especially if it meant company, and she fiercely adored her family – described as a wonderful mother and a devoted Mima, always baking, crafting, and playing, with lots of sleepovers.

Cheryl is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Gregg Helgert; her son Heath (Nikki) Helgert and grandson, Bowen, of Victor, MT; her son Joshua (Ashley) Helgert, grandson, Mason, and grandbaby on the way, of Springdale; her siblings, Jerry (Elise) and Rob; sister-in-laws, Linda (Roger) Woods and Carla Lunden; a sister-in-law turned best friend, Wendy; and many other friends and extended family who adored her.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life from 4-8 PM on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME INC., 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065 (724-224-7730), where services will be held at 8:00 PM on Friday with her Rev. Roy Warren officiating.  For more information please visit www.petersfamilyfuneralhomes.com.
