Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Doloughan Richardson, 89, of Ben Avon, died on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Belair Nursing Home, Lower Burrell, PA.

Betty was born Friday, January 7, 1927 in New Castle, PA to the late William and Mamie (Johnson) Doloughan.  Betty was a graduate of the former Scott Township High School Class of 1944.  She worked at Fleming’s Music Store in New Castle and retired from Gimbel’s on McKnight Road.  Betty was a member of the Pomona Grange, the Neighborhood Garden Club of Ben Avon, and the Community Presbyterian Church in Ben Avon.  She loved her piano and played for many weddings and special events while living in New Castle.    

Betty was married to the late Walter R. Richardson who died April 1, 1995.  She is survived by her sister-in-law, Althea (David) Joseph; 2 nieces: Lisa (Brian) Sinatra and Karen (Jamison) Fielding; and 5 great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, John “Jack” Doloughan and sister, Minnie Doloughan.

Arrangements have been entrusted to CHURCHFIELD-PETERS FUNERAL HOME, 501 Fifth Avenue, New Kensington, 724-335-1951.  A private burial will be held at Allegheny County Memorial Park, Allison Park, PA.  A public memorial service will be held at the Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon (7501 Church Ave, Ben Avon, 412-761-1233) on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at 2:00 PM with the Pastor Donna Giver-Johnston presiding.  For online condolences or more information please visit us at www.petersfamilyfuneralhomes.com.
