Jay Wessel Obituary

Jay A. Wessel, 85, formerly of Buffalo Township, PA died on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Sugar Creek Rest, Worthington, PA. 

Jay was born on Friday, January 6, 1933 in Pittsburgh to the late Robert and Agnes Christy Wessel.  Jay was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War.  He received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh and went on to work as a salesman for over 30 years at Frito-Lay Company.  After his retirement he worked at Giant Eagle in Sarver.  He was a member of the Center United Methodist Church of Natrona Heights and the Oakland Church of God in Distant, PA.  Jay enjoyed backyard football and softball and working with the youth at church. 

Jay is survived by his children, Trish (Don) Jones of New Bethlehem and Todd Wessel of Valdosta, GA; and 2 step-grandchildren, Bethany Maddix and Doug Jones. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia L. Kison Wessel on September 11, 2015; his brothers, Roy and Bob, and his sister, Peggy.
